For over half a century, Sawai Pharmaceutical has spearheaded the adoption of high-quality, affordable generic medicines as a pioneer in the industry. Today, generic pharmaceuticals have become essential social infrastructure. As a key pillar supporting Japan’s healthcare system, our social responsibility has become more significant than ever before.
We take the past quality issues and subsequent administrative sanctions very seriously. In response, we have been driving company-wide reforms to our corporate culture and implementing rigorous measures to prevent recurrence. There is no finish line when it comes to ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of quality. We will not allow these measures to become mere formalities; instead, we will “deepen” them into our corporate DNA, ensuring they are firmly rooted in every corner of our organization. I am convinced that further strengthening our quality assurance system is the only way to build a foundation of unwavering trust from patients and healthcare professionals, as well as a truly stable supply.
The social mission of ensuring a stable supply of pharmaceuticals is currently at a critical juncture in Japan. At the same time, the prolonged depreciation of the yen and rising costs are significantly impacting our business. To fulfill our responsibility for sustainable supply, we are working with a strong sense of mission to build a more robust profit foundation. To achieve this, we will not only ensure the successful launch of our planned production capacity increases but also accelerate the efficiency of our production processes by actively leveraging DX and AI technologies. Furthermore, we will build a highly effective supply system through strategic collaborations with other companies.
At the heart of our philosophy, “We enable people to live healthy lives through pharmaceutical products imbued with our whole-hearted dedication.” lies the concept of Magokoro (Sincerity). Every employee must deeply appreciate the value of the products we deliver and commit their utmost effort to every single tablet. We share this resolve across the entire Group—encouraging each individual to act autonomously, utilizing technology and external partnerships to the fullest, and boldly tackling the challenges before us. I believe that this determination—to sense change keenly and move forward without being bound by past successes—will be the ultimate “growth engine” for enhancing sustainable corporate value and paving the way for the future.
We are deeply grateful to all our stakeholders for their continued understanding and support. We humbly ask for your ongoing guidance and encouragement as we move forward.
